How I used Simply Spray fabric paint

The photograph shows my completed parasol project. I purchased a child's plain white cotton Battenburg lace parasol. I wanted to dye it a baby blue because I could not find a baby blue child's parasol. I masked the lacquered handle, stem and tip with painter's masking tape, but did not mask the metal spine frame.

I then sprayed the entire top of the fabric area with Sky Blue Simply Spray fabric paint. After letting it dry for 24 hours, I proceeded to embellish it by hand-sewing baby blue ball fringe, mini tassels and ruffling. I then hand-sewed light blue satin/white lace rosebuds, mini gingham checked ribbon, and organdy bows with white beads to the top, middle and bottom spine tips of the parasol.

Simply Spray fabric paint solved the problem for me of how to "color" a white parasol without using the traditional dip/dye method.

This frilly little parasol will be a birthday present for my little granddaughter whose favorite color is blue.
